Girl (Lisa Dobbyn) tries her hand at a spot of palm-reading with an angst-ridden Don (Ed Beausang).

In March 1999, after a long gestation and much labour, Gaslaugh Productions was born with its presentation of Boys' Life by Howard Korder which ran for one week at Andrew's Lane Studio, Dublin 2, its Irish premiere.

Directed by Bryan Baker who was reprising the role of Jack he had already played in an off-broadway production in 1994, it also starred Ed Beausang as Don and Andrew Murray as Phil.

Co-starring Michelle Booker as Lisa, Sheena McGinley as Maggie, Ciara Anna Hughes as Karen, Lisa Dobbyn as Girl, Michelle Brassil as Carla and Alex Synnott as Man, the play was a sellout. In Dublin described it as a "diverting evening" with performances "subtly observed" and discussions quickly took place for a revival in June of that year. Unfortunately, not all cast members were available to continue with the jaunt. And so, stepping into the fray came Darren Lawless as Phil, Sarah Hone as Karen, and Edel Leahy as Carla, and it was full steam ahead ... this time for two weeks, again at Andrew's Lane Studio.
